Brief Bio – Joy Gonzales Anderson, RI District 5230 Governor 2020-2021
 

A native of Carmel, California, Joy joined Rotary in 2012 as a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Monterey Cannery Row were she has served as Secretary, Public Relations Chair and Club President in 2014-2015. Joy served as District Membership Director in 2017-2018. She is a multiple Paul Harris. 
 
Joy served on the Board of Directors for the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce where she held the position of Chairman of the Board in 2011. Joy has served on the Board of the Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau and on the Board of Directors of Leadership Monterey Peninsula where she was a graduate of the Class of 1986 as well as the YWCA of Monterey County. Joy also serves on the Advisory Council for Gathering for Women and Community Builders for Monterey County.

Joy was honored in 2014 with the prestigious Robert C. Littlefield Lifetime Achievement Award by the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and in 2017 with the Monterey County Commission on the Status of Women, Outstanding Woman of Monterey County.

In her longtime career in hospitality, Joy has held positions as Director of Catering/Conference Services, Rooms Director, Director of Human Resources, General Manager and Regional Director for various hotel brands. She also held positions as Corporate Trainer for Best Western International and National Account Manager for Signature Worldwide Training. She has owned and operated her own business and continues to freelance in Marketing and Public Relations with a few select clients. She most recently held the position of Interim CEO at the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
 
Now retired, she resides in Seaside, CA with her husband, Jim and their little dog, Luigi. Joy has 4 grown children and 8 grandchildren.
