Welcome to one of the most memorable training sessions of your Rotary career. Together we learn, and PETS is your opportunity to spend time with your peers from across eight Rotary Districts. This will be one of the highlights of your Rotary adventure, and I appreciate your commitment to not only leading your club in 2023 - 2024 but your commitment to learning all that Rotary has to offer you and your club members.

 

My first PETS was in 2009 as I prepared for my year as president. I have since been to many PETS programs as a member of the Rotary Public Image team, and each time I became more inspired by the speakers, the programs, and the friendships that were made.

 

Your opportunity to make friendships that can last a lifetime is just ahead. These new friends will allow you to reach out beyond your club and our District when looking for ideas and inspiration. Make plans to find people who will be leading clubs of similar size to yours and be open to sharing ideas beyond the PETS experience.

 

My journey into being selected as District Governor for 2023-2024 started at PETS, and the connections I made so long ago still present new ideas and inspiration. As a Rotarian, I have had the pleasure to serve the District as a public Relations Chair for many years. I was invited in 2013 to join the Zone Public Image team, which allowed me to see Rotary from a different perspective. Throughout the Rotary leadership journey, I have always appreciated the resources the many people I have met have provided. I urge you to consider the resources you are about to acquire and engage with other leaders.

 

Together we are ready to continue the work of Rotary in our communities and throughout the world. I look forward to meeting each of you and, at some point, introducing you to my partner and spouse, Melody Montero. How happy I am that she is a willing partner in this adventure.
