Hung Wei was born and raised in Taiwan. She came to the States in 1979, received a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as A Second Language from UCLA, and moved to the Bay Area in 1981.
 
She served as a School Board Member with Fremont Union High School District in Sunnyvale from 2007 to 2018, serving 10,000+ students and parents from five high schools.
 
Hung has served on many local non-profit boards, including various PTAs, Northwest YMCA, Fremont Union High Schools Foundation, Asian American Parent Association, EMQ Auxiliary serving Uplift Family Services, Quota Cupertino, and the League of Women Voters of Cupertino- Sunnyvale.
 
Hung is an active member of the Rotary Club of Cupertino, having served as Club Service Committee Chair, Membership Chair, and was Club President 2014-2015. At Rotary District 5170, Hung has served as Area 8 Assistant Governor 2015-2016, and District Membership Chair 2017-2021.
 
Hung Wei was elected to the Cupertino City Council in November 2020. She believes in Servant Leadership and will dedicate her passion, energy, and action-taking abilities in the next decade for public, community, and Rotary service.
 
Hung Wei is married to Ta-Wei Chien who currently works in Taipei, Taiwan as CEO at LiTV. She has two adult sons, both married and living independently. In addition to her passion in serving the community, planting seeds of kindness and goodwill, Hung loves reading, watching old Sci-Fi movies, golfing, food & wine, and spending time with family and friends.
