Dear 2021-2022 Rotary Club Presidents,
After much discussion and deliberation, the Far West PETS committee has made the decision that the 2021 PETS scheduled for March 5th - 7th in San Jose, CA will be held virtually.
This decision was based on consideration of the changing situation involving the COVID19 virus; COVID19 related Federal, state and local actions, requirements and guidelines; and, most importantly, the Committee’s desire to consider and respect the safety and health of our over 600 participants as well as their families and the multitude of communities from which they come.
Please be reminded that attendance at PETS is a requirement for all Presidents Elect.  Accordingly, all PEs will be expected to attend/participate in all PETS alternate training event(s) that will be provided virtually. Your District Governor Elect will also be in communication with you on additional training opportunities within your District.
This year of planning will be like no other as we shift our focus to planning a Virtual PETs.  It is never easy when you are trying something new, however what we often find is when we do try something new, we can all grow from those experiences. Remember, Rotary Opens Opportunities.
We are truly fortunate to have a committee that not only brings many talents but experiences in putting together other Rotary virtual meetings. Our experienced faculty has worked tirelessly to bring to you” best practices” in serving your club as President. The breakout sessions will also include how to serve your club with the challenges we are currently facing. You will have several opportunities to attend webinars before the PETS training and those webinars will set the stage for the more in-depth training to come during PETs.
As Rotarians, we come from many different professions, communities and walks of life. I hope you will take the opportunity to capture the virtual moments with your fellow classmates, be it in your individual breakouts or during your social time.
Every year the PETS experience transforms those selected to lead their Clubs, giving them the knowledge and confidence to lead with innovation and inspiration. PETS is a participation sport, the more you put in, the more you get out, and the more your Club will benefit. Although this years’ experience will be a virtual experience, I know it will be of great value.
